When did you first start training at BootCamp 580?
May 5, 2014

What is your favorite workout/movement?
I have a few…..ring rows, squats, dumbbell thrusters, tabata work outs, rowing/running…etc.

Least favorite workout/movement?
Burpees, but it’s a love/hate thing.

Tell us about your fitness and/or lifestyle background.
I was always involved in various sports throughout high school (volleyball, basketball, and track) In college I would play on summer leagues and try to stick to a work out plan, but it never stuck. I joined another gym in WI in early 2010 and found myself in a good routine. I was going 3-4 times/week and using the elliptical for 45 mins to 1 hour, and thought I was getting in a good work. Man was I wrong. I moved to Oregon later that year and got out of sync with staying active. I would work out occasionally but nothing routine. The same thing happened when I moved to CA in early 2011…tried to get a routine and eat healthy…finally in Jan 2014 I bought a personal trainer at Fitness 19, I was stoked to get started but still found excuses to skip the gym…..

How did you first get exposed to BootCamp 580? Take us back to your first workout… what was it, and how did it feel?
I watched my roommate come home from the gym all sweaty yet pumped and excited from the workout he just had. After 2 weeks of this, I finally asked him where are you working out at because I need to try this out. I started May 5th, and haven’t regretted it yet. My 1st work out was 120 burpees, with 10 air squat EMOM. I honestly hated the 1st work out but I came back the next day, and my friend Carrie and I signed up for memberships!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting BootCamp 580? (before/after)
Definitely have noticed my clothes starting to fit better and have been able to wear clothes from OLD “don’t fit pile” I can also feel that I am getting stronger. I push myself to use higher weights to make the workouts worth it, and not just finish the reps with lower weights that are not testing me. CrossFit580/BootCamp 580 has turned me into a runner. I have signed up for my 1st half Marathon on March 28th in Livermore. I have run quite a few races since November of 2014.

What changes in your life have you experienced from BootCamp 580 that were totally unexpected?
Quitting smoking is by far the biggest lifestyle change I have made. I quit smoking 2 weeks after I started and I haven’t looked back since. It was 10 months being smoke free on March 19 2015. Having more energy and actual being fully aware of the food I am consuming has been very helpful. Of course there are times you still eat bad, but then get back on track asap. I am going to start some crossfit classes in April.

Please share with us any favorite BootCamp 580 moments.
I don’t have one favorite in particular a lot of classes have been fun. The coaching staff is spectacular.

Any advice for people just getting started?
To not give up, some works out will make you not want to come back, but definitely come back. It gets addicting.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of BootCamp 580?
Hanging out with friends, hiking, movies, playing cards, traveling, hunting…

Congratulations Nicole and keep up the great work!
