Working out always felt like a chore until I got to college and discovered the physical and mental benefits of exercise. While playing baseball at Cal State East Bay, our strength and conditioning coach introduced us to a variety of movements and exercises—one of which was Olympic lifting. At the time, I actively avoided heavy lifts like the clean and jerk. Now, I look forward to them.
After graduating from college, I missed the camaraderie of “suffering” alongside friends in the gym and needed a structured routine where I could just show up and put in the work. A friend introduced me to CrossFit in 2011, and the two of us started training in his self-proclaimed “garage of pain.” From that moment, I was hooked.
I love that every day in CrossFit is different and that the workouts are scalable for all levels. The gym is my favorite place to be, and I’m excited to share my passion every time I’m coaching or working out alongside our members.
